Whiskey

  • Category: Strong alcoholic drinks
  • Volume: 40%

Whiskey is a strong aromatic alcoholic beverage made from various types of grain using malting, distillation, and long aging in oak barrels. The choice of grain and drying process, barrels, and aging time varies depending on the brand of whiskey and the country of origin.

When and where the drink was first distilled is unknown. One of the first mentions dates back to 1405 and comes from Ireland. On June 1, 1494, the drink is mentioned in the registry of the Scottish Treasury. However, it is assumed that the distillation process was known long before the first written mentions.

There are different varieties of this drink in different countries, but the most common ones can be called malt, grain, blended, and corn whiskey.
