Aquavit

Aquavit is a national Scandinavian alcoholic beverage.

It is made from spirits that are produced by processing potatoes. The spirits, diluted to a strength of 38-50%, are infused with spices for several weeks to several years. These spices may include caraway, dill, coriander, cinnamon, fennel, anise, St. John's wort, and others. The drink usually has a yellowish hue, but some brands have a brown color, and some are colorless.

Premium Norwegian aquavit from the series Linie Aquavit ("line aquavit") is traditionally transported in barrels across the equator to the Southern Hemisphere and back.

The most famous brands are: Løiten, Lysholm, Aalborg, Aalborg, O.P. Anderson.
