Egg liqueur (Advocaat) is a traditional Dutch alcoholic drink, made from eggs, sugar and brandy, very smooth, homogeneous, velvety texture. The typical alcohol content usually ranges from 14% to 20%. Main manufacturers of the liqueur: Bols, DeKuyper and Verpoorten.

Advocaat is a shortened version of the Dutch word 'advocatenborrel' or 'lawyer's drink'. According to the 1882 edition of the 'Dutch Language Dictionary', 'so named as good lubrication for the throat, and therefore considered especially useful for a lawyer who has to perform publicly'.

It can be made from egg yolks, aromatic spirits, sugar or honey, brandy, vanilla and sometimes cream (or condensed milk).

Egg liqueur is consumed neat or as an ingredient for cocktails or culinary products.
