Clover Club

Clover Club

Ingredients
короткий со льдом утвержденный международной ассоциацией барменов (IBA)

Gin 45 ml

Lemon Juice 15 ml

Egg a bit

Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes at least halfway. Add gin, raspberry syrup, lemon juice, and the whit of one small egg one by one. Shake all the ingredients well in the shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

The most common opinion (mainly based on the book “The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book” by Albert Stevens Crockett (1935) or his earlier book, “Old Waldorf Bar Days” (1931)), is that the Clover Club cocktail was invented in the bar of the Belvedere-Stratford hotel sometime in the early twentieth century, or perhaps earlier (the first printed mentions of the name of this cocktail and composition are found in some American newspapers, including advertising, somewhere in the 1910s). The cocktail was named after a certain Clover Club, which existed in this bar and included representatives of the color of the aristocracy, business, and art of Philadelphia. This cocktail was very popular among true gentlemen of the pre-Prohibition era.
