Cuba Libre

Put several ice cubes in a tall glass, pour light rum and cola.

Add half a lime.

You can add a straw.

Born in Havana in 1900 shortly after the victory of the Cuban people in the war for independence from Spain, it combined the main drink of Cuba with the main drink of the USA. American soldiers mixed their favorite Cuban rum and cola, exclaiming "¡Por Cuba libre!" ("For free Cuba!").
