Heat the whiskey over the torch.
Pour whiskey and hot coffee into a preheated Irish Coffee glass (or a hot drink glass).
Add a teaspoon of cane sugar.
Gently pour a layer of whipped cream on top.
The original recipe for this drink was created by Joe Sheridan, a leading bartender at Shannon Airport, located near the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Transatlantic liners landing in Europe to America stop at this airport. Journalist Stanton Delaplane from the San Francisco Chronicle transferred the recipe for this drink to his favourite bar, Buena Vista, in San Francisco. To this day, there is a bronze plaque in this bar that the first "Irish Coffee" in this bar was prepared in 1952.
