Pour all ingredients into shaker filled with ice.

Shake and strain through a strainer into a large glass.

Garnish with a lime slice.

There are many versions regarding the authorship and time of the cocktail's appearance. It is believed that originally the cocktail was specifically made for Absolut Citron vodka, which had a lemon flavour. According to another version, the 'Cosmopolitan' was created by Cheryl Cook, a female bartender from South Beach, Florida. In one of her interviews she said that she created this drink in 1985, although before this time, by the late 70's, it was popular in gay bars.
