Fill the shot glass one third with coffee liqueur (Kahlua liqueur is traditionally used, but any other will do).

Then carefully pour a layer of Irish cream or another cream liqueur (using a knife blade or the back of a spoon).

Lastly, just as carefully, layer the Triple Sec.

There are several theories about the origin of the B-52 cocktail. One theory suggests that the cocktail was created in the Alice bar in Malibu and named after the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber. There are also opinions that the cocktail was created in the Keg's steakhouse bar in Calgary.
